I am writing to encourage the Colfax community to support the school levy with their votes on Feb. 8.
As a teacher in the Colfax School District for 21 years, I was, and I am, aware of what the levy money supports. First, and foremost, the levy money contributes significantly to a quality education when we have up to date textbooks and technology. Second, even though our schools are small, we offer a good variety of activities where students can explore their talents and abilities in the form of extra-curricular programs.
Without this levy money supplementing the funds received from the state and federal government, students would suffer because of decreased opportunities.
I love being a Bulldog and I love that four of my five grandchildren are Bulldogs because Colfax Bulldogs have a reputation for quality. Whether it is in sports, drama, band, FFA, FCCLA, FBLA, Knowledge Bowl or any of the other activities I may have failed to list, there is pride in performance and participation.
All members of the Colfax community are represented by the school to some extent. Voting yes on Feb. 8 makes a significant statement to our students, teachers, administration, and community, as well as to other communities watching the outcome of our votes.
Voting yes for our levy says, “I want Colfax schools to continue providing quality education and opportunities for our students and I am willing to contribute my tax dollars to that cause.”
