Author Jack Nisbet presents book on Ice Age

Series: Community Briefs | Story 33

COLFAX – Award winning author Jack Nisbet presents “John Leiber and the Ice Age Floods 1885-1905” on April 2.

Nisbet talks about the book on April 2 at 2 p.m. at the Whitman County Library in Colfax.

He is speaking about his most recent work, “The Dreamer and the Doctor.” Nisbet traces the journey of prospector John Leiber and his physician wife, Carrie, across the intermountain west to homestead on the southern end of Lake Pend Oreille.

While working as a forest surveyor in the 1890s, Leiber observed and wrote down descriptions of flood features, glacial lakes and scoured landscapes. He recognized that only an enormous flood could produce the features.
