Ensley heads to Mat Classic

COLFAX - Call Trentin Ensley the last man standing.

Ensley, a Colfax senior wrestling at 182 pounds, will be the lone local grappler to compete at the Mat Classic XXXIII state tourrnament Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17 and 18, in the Tacoma Dome.

Ensley earned the state berth by finishing fifth Saturday, Feb. 12, at the regional tournament at Warden High School.

He will open the tournament against Ricky Cisneros of Granger.

Cisneros, a senior, defeated Ensley in the regional quarterfinals by technical fall in 5:44.

Ensley earned his state berth at regionals, opening by pinning Ryan Hamlin of Tonasket in 1:02, before losing to Cisneros.

He pinned Hunter Davis of River View in 2:05 and Ryden Zabreznik of Okanogan in 1:41.

Braedyn White of Pomeroy defeated in 8-6 in sudden victory overtime, before Ensly won by tiebreaker, 8-6, in overtime against Marquis Gourneau of Granger.
