Marshall Munitions reopens in Colfax

Company plans to expand downtown and online sales

COLFAX – Two men have reopened Marshall Munitions for special orders, with plans to offer online services in the coming month.

Earl Marshall of Colfax and Mark Shelton of Sacramento, Calif., are operating by requested order now, but plan to expand online and their 220 S. Main St. physical business this year.

Marshall Munitions opened in October of 2021, but closed due to supply shortages. The co-owners reopened in January, with the hopes of boosting the Whitman County economy.

“We want to establish our name and brand as a go-to brand of ammunition for shooters of all types,” Shelton said. “We are even developing ammunition for the Police Department.”

Marshall and Shelton met as children and decided to open Marshall Munitions “about a year ago,” Shelton said.

Since it’s reopening, Marshall has dedicated free time to develop and manufacture new ammunition to sell.

He could not be reached for comment due to the volume of work orders.

Marshall, who began manufacturing ammunition 15 years ago, also co-owns the adjacent Cougar Graphics.

“Because of COVID, ammo is hard to keep stocked,” Shelton said, “The store is mostly online and a wholesaler. We manufacture all of our own ammunition.

“Everything is manufactured to precise requirements and is hand- inspected. We make a real premium product”.

The owners plan to expand operations and begin exporting to California, with their official website and e-commerce going live within the next month.

By the end of the year, Marshall and Shelton hope to hire an additional 10 new employees.

“I think a lot of people will have an interest in what we do and to be part of a new and growing company,” Shelton said. “There aren’t many locally, well-stocked ammunition stores and we hope to help them out as a resource.”
