PALOUSE – Police were recently called to a construction site twice, once for attempted theft and one for a drug overdose.
Thieves tried to enter a trailer used by the construction company, where a vet clinic is being built, according to Interim Police Chief Joel Anderson’s report to the City Council last week.
The trailer door was damaged by an attempt to get in, he said, estimating repair costs at $500.
A car stopped at the site before midnight when the trailer was damaged, he said, noting the attempted theft is being investigated. Anyone with information about the attempted theft is asked to call the police at 509-878-1611.
The second police call to the construction site was for an unconscious and unresponsive man in a work truck, Anderson said. The ambulance crew administered the opioid overdose treatment Narcan to him and he became conscious.
The man was interviewed by police and he admitted to taking a half pill of fentanyl before he was picked up in Spokane and brought to Palouse to work, he said. He was taken to the Pullman Regional Hospital for evaluation.
