Paint Nights on tap at libraries

LaCROSSE - Paint Nights at Whitman County libraries returns at the LaCrosse and Endicott branches this March.

The public services manager at the Whitman County Library, Catalina Flores, is hopeful that the lifting of the mask mandate will bring more people to area libraries.

"We are hoping more will come out and enjoy these programs we offer," Flores said. "We are excited to host these classes."

Flores, a Colfax local, was disappointed to see the classes end in Oakesdale and Garfield during the pandemic.

"We want to see more people. Most of our patrons are surprised they can actually paint," she said. "People of all skill levels in painting come and visit."

Endicott and LaCrosse continue to host "Paint Night" once a month.

"Paint night" guides individuals in a step-by-step video featuring the artist and leads the painter to a completed and finished painting. The library provides the canvas and paint supplies necessary.

"We feature lots of artists and different styles. Typically it's more realism and life art," Flores said, noting their is a cost to participate. The program is open to library-goers older than 18.

"At the end of the night, you get to take home your painting," she said. "The event is really fun and brings people together," Flores stated.

LaCrosse will host its Paint Night at 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 18, at 201 S. Main St.

The Endicott program is at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26, at the local branch, 324 E St.
