WSU fine arts students' work on display until May 7

PULLMAN – The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU presents the 2022 MFA Thesis Exhibition, Opening Reception, and Artist Talks.

The exhibition is open from March 29 – May 7, with talks given by each of the artists on April 1, from 3-4 p.m. An opening reception follows the talks in the museum galleries from 4-6 p.m.

All events are free to the public.

The exhibition is the annual showcase of artwork by the Master of Fine Arts graduate candidates. With its wide range of art-making approaches, the exhibition provides a stimulating experience for faculty, students, and museum visitors, said organizer Debby Stinson.

The graduate candidates are Sarah Barnett, Jaime Durham, Autumn Hunnicutt, Seo Ryung Park, Siri Stensberg, and Meagan Marsh Pine.

The student artists have engaged in an intense interdisciplinary studio program. They met regularly with faculty members for group and individual critiques. Visiting artists and scholars provided diverse one-on-one insight into their creative work.

“Each artist sharpened their confidence, convictions, and skills,” said Stinson.

Funding for this exhibition is provided by the Samuel H. and Patricia W. Smith Endowment and members of the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art.

The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art is at 1535 Wilson Road in Pullman.

Hours are Tuesday through Friday, 1-4 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
