Nature art being exhibited

UNIONTOWN - The Confluo Exhibit of nature art will be on display at Dahmen Barn from May 1-29.

Four artists — Linda Hyatt Cancel of Colville, Beth Ann Rimmelspacher of Clarkston, Theresa Henson of Cottonwood, Idaho, and John Sebastian, a New York native — are presenting Confluo, an exhibit of nature art at the gallery, 419 N. Parkway.

There will be a reception for the artists from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, May 1.

Confluo is Latin for to flow, flock and come together.

Rimmelspacher, Henson, Cancel, Clarkston and Sebastian hope their collective work inspires and interests fellow art lovers.

Rimmelspacher a full-time, self taught artist since 1984, created her own style using oil painting to give depth and dimension to a scene that a camera cannot capture. Using vibrant and earth tone colors, she uses her eye for fine line detail to give her paintings life.

Henson said she is inspired by growth and proliferations of forms that can be found in healthy ecosystems, as well as in communities, and the self. She explores the contrasts of the worn with the renewed which create an ever-changing whole.

Sebastian uses art to work through the storms of this new uncertain world. In a place of uncertainty, there is a fear factor, an awareness of our short time here on this planet and an awareness of our mortality, he said.

"Linda came up for the theme last September, Confluo, as a focus on nature. Linda and Beth are museum quality artists," said Julie Hartwig, curator and manager of Dahmen Barn.
