Dorothy A. Bowman, 85, passed away May 10, 2022, at her home in Tekoa, Wash.
Dorothy was born Aug. 12, 1936, in Medicine Lodge, Kan., to Jesse and Thelma (Fussel) Wortman.
She attended school in Medicine Lodge and graduated from high school in 1953. Dorothy married Jack Bowman on April 9, 1954, in Alba, Okla., and the couple made their home in Medicine Lodge.
The couple was married for 68 years.
The couple moved to rural Tekoa in 1965, where Jack taught school and Dorothy was a homemaker. The couple moved into Tekoa in 1996, where they have lived for the past 26 years.
Dorothy enjoyed raising livestock on the family farm. She was active in the local Campfire Girls, and enjoyed oil painting, sewing and quilting. She was an avid reader and loved to work crossword puzzles.
Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Jack of Tekoa; two daughters, Chris ( Mrs. Michael) McCallum of Fuquay–Varina, N.C., and Cathy Bowman of Tekoa, Wash .; two grandchildren, Brenna and Derek McCallum; and two brothers, Richard and Jack Wortman of Medicine Lodge, Kan.
She was preceded in death by a sibling, Lola Wortman.
A graveside service for Dorothy was at 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2022, in Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa, Wash. Pastor Hal Whitman will officiated.
