District Court

Whitman County District Court issued the following judgements between May 10-17:

May 10

Adam Shelton, third-degree driving while license suspended. Defendant is sentenced tp 30 days of jail, suspended 30 days, and of fine of $1000 with $500 suspended. Total fines of $54, $500 may be converted to community service and must be completed by Aug. 31. The defendant must have unsupervised probation for 12 months, and probation will be terminated with reinstatment of license and completion of all affirmative obligations to be completed by April 30, 2023.

May 13

Michael Pruitt, driving while under the influence in 16-passenger vehicle. Defendant is sentenced to 364 days of jail with 361 days suspended; and a fine of $2000 with $1000 suspended. Jail will be arranged by the probation department and completed by the defendant within 90 days. Total fines of $1,775.46 to be payed by March 31, 2024. The defendant will make minimum monthly payments of $50 starting April 1. Community service to be completed by Oct. 31. Defendant must have supervised probation for 24 months, and unsupervised probation for last 6 months if all essential requirements of the sentence have been completed. Defendant must obtain a expanded alcohol assessment from a Washington state approved agency and file treatment or education within 30 days. Defendant cannot use or possess any drugs, alcohol, or marijuana. Defendant must submit to random alcohol/drug testing, and is not allowed to go bars.

Michael Beardemphl, driving under the influence, sentenced to 364 days of jail with 363 days suspended; and a fine of $2000 with $1000 suspended. Must serve a total of 1 day in jail with credit for no days served. The defendant has a total of $1,680.77 in fines, and must make a minimum monthly payment of $50 starting on June 1. Defendant can perform community service, and complete it by october 31. Supervised probation for 24 months, and unsupervised probation for last 12 months if all essential requirements of sentence have been completed. Defendant is not allowed to use alcohol, non-prescribed substances or illegal drugs. The defendant must submit to random tests, and is not allowed to drive for 90 days.

May 17

Beatrice G. Elizai plead guilty to minor in possession of alcohol, deferred sentence for 6 months on the follwoing conditions: 30 days of jail, suspended 30 days, and a fine of $500 with $500 suspended. Defendant shall pay to the court clerk no fine, a criminal conviction fee of $43, probation/monitoring fee of $300, and a deferred fee of $200. Totaled at $543 in fines, $200 of this total is converted to community service at the rate of $14 an hour which must be completed by August 31. The defendant has supervised probation for 6 months. Defendant’s compliance with the sentence and probation conditions is to be supervised by the probation department. Defendant must contact the Probation Office within 7 days of order to schedule intake appointment, and keep probation advised of address. Defendant must not use or possess alcohol, marijuana, and will be tested randomly.
