Crews cleaning Colfax streets

COLFAX – Whitman County Public Works sent a crew through downtown in the morning of Wednesday, May 18 to assist in cleaning street corners.

"Our public works crew come and clean up every spring to clean up debris and bark," City Administrator Chris Mathais said.

The Colfax Downtown Association is hosting a volunteer cleanup on Saturday, May 21.

The city recently bought new flower pots for each corner.

"Our guys are just prepping all the corners to put the pots down," Mathais noted.

Preliminary efforts to clean Colfax are in place as the 150th birthday of Colfax approaches with a planned celebration set for Saturday, July 23.
