Civic group plans traditional July 4 fireworks stand
COLFAX — The Colfax Rotary Club is reporting its youth baseball breakfast fundraiser last month as a success.
The Little League event raised more than $6,500 to support youth baseball during its breakfast last month, club officials reported during its June 1 meeting.
Thrifty Grandmother’s, 118 N. Main St., donated $1,000 toward the Little League, as well.
Meanwhile, Rotarians are also mowing the fields and helping upgrade Little League dugouts.
In other business, Rotarians heard a report on how their annual fireworks sales promotion is progressing.
Fireworks are expected to arrive in the area June 20 for the sales stand.
To make sales easier for customers, the club is considering the purchase of an iPad and acquiring a credit/debit card reader.
Rotarians are planning on opening their fireworks stand June 28 and operate from noon to 8 p.m. until July 3.
On July 4, the stand is traditionally open only from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Rotarians in attendance during the June 1 meeting included President Hank Hanigan, President-elect Kay Riebold, Secretary Ian McMichael, Treasurer Bob Lothspeich and directors Jerry Pugh, Tim Bruya and Barney Buckley.
