Animal cruelty charges filed against Pullman residents

Carson Hammer, Sydney Weston ordered to appear in Superior Court on July 8

PULLMAN — First- and second-degree animal cruelty charges were filed against two local residents Friday, June 17, in Whitman County Superior Court.

Carson Hammer and Sydney Weston, both of Pullman, were charged with multiple counts, records show.

They were issued summons to appear in court for a Friday, July 8, hearing. The case is being prosecuted by Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Tessa Scholl.

The Prosecuting Attorney’s Office reported that on March 16 officers responded to a call from Hammer and Weston’s landlord regarding numerous animals in bad condition.

The landlord also reported deceased animals on the side the apartment, records show.

After arriving that day, all animals were removed from the premise, records show.

Police investigated with assistance of doctors and staff from Washington State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine and the Whitman County Humane Society, records show.
