County offices have new move-in projection

COLFAX — Construction on the courthouse continues with a new move-in date set for sometime in August.

Facilities Management Director Brandy Dean said ceiling installation, and floor preparation, and installation on the second floor were to be completed earlier this month.

And by Tuesday, June 28, Dean said crews had hoped to complete ceiling installation in offices and floor preparation and installation on the first floor.

Cleanup is expected to begin by Monday, July 11 on the second floor with full building cleanup by Monday, July 25, Dean said.

Officials hope to start heating and air conditioning systems on Monday, Aug. 1, Dean said.

Painting is underway.

The move-in date for the courthouse was pushed back due to schedule changes, Dean reported.

“It was due to carpet install and HVAC install schedule changes. We decided that we would like to have the carpet installed at the very end of the process so there was less likely a chance of damage by contractors still working in the courthouse,” Dean said.

No additions to the budget and unexpected costs have occurred with the pushback date as everything is close to wrapping up.

“Everything is right in the middle. Its a funny job because everything will end up coming to a close at the same time,” she noted.
