COLFAX— The City of Colfax is asking customers to reduce irrigation in order to conserve water in a press release by Public Works Director, Matt Hammer on Wednesday, August 3.
The City is currently in the process of replacing the Clay Street Well pump and motor. The well is anticipated to be back on line in early September, Hammer explained, “We are asking our customers to limit watering to 20 minutes per zone, every other day.”
They ask citizens to limit their watering to between 8 p.m. and 9 a.m. to eliminate evaporation.
“We’re running on two wells right now, and those pumps are running 24 hours a day to keep up with demand. So if residents limit their water usage to my recommendations, we can keep up with demand,” Hammer said, “When we get that well back up we can use all the water we want.”
