PULLMAN – An Idaho man was hospitalized following a July 28 garbage truck crash on U.S. Highway 195 between Pullman and Colfax.
Richard Becker, 60, of Post Falls, Idaho, was airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane for treatment of his injuries, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Becker's condition was not available.
Becker was northbound on U.S. Highway 195 at about 1:11 p.m. when the 2016 Peterbilt garbage truck's front right tire failed near Milepost 23, the patrol reported.
The vehicle left the roadway to the right, struck a dirt embankment and came to rest in the northbound ditch, the patrol reported.
Becker was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, the patrol reported.
Neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the crash.
The patrol listed the cause of the crash as equipment failure.
