COLFAX— The National Weather Service reports hot daytime temperatures, with some locations breaking record highs for today Wed. 31 and Fri. Sept 2.
Hot and dry weather is predicted in the Palouse with a moderate risk of weather hazards and breezy to gusty winds late today, elevating fire weather conditions. Similar predictions are reported for late Friday and Saturday.
Reports say that thunderstorms with little to no precipitation are possible for the area Friday night and Saturday with gusty winds and lightning among the list of hazards to expect.
The NWS reports better weather for Sunday, Sept. 4, and Monday with reports predicting warm temperatures with a breeze and little to no risk of weather hazards.
Reports predict breezy to gusty winds accompanying a warm and dry stretch of weather further elevating fire weather concerns with the possible increase in spark or spread of wildfires across the region. Confidence in wind predictions is higher for today than later in the week.
