Three separate collisions leave drivers injured
COLFAX – Three separate collisions have occurred in the last two weeks, resulting in injury to the drivers.
Whitman County deputies and emergency crews from the Colfax, Endicott and Lacrosse Fire departments responded to a two-vehicle head-on collision on Endicott Road, Wednesday morning, Sept. 21.
A 17 year old male from Diamond, was traveling west bound in a late model passenger vehicle when he fell asleep, drifting into the other lane and colliding with an oncoming bus, reports say. The teenager suffered injuries to his arm and was life-flighted to a Spokane Hospital. When emergency crews arrived, they spent approximately 30 minutes extricating the driver from the wreckage.
Reports say, the driver of the Endicott School bus was not injured, and there were no children or passengers on the bus at the time of the collision. The investigation of this collision is now closed.
Monday, Sept. 26, reports say, deputies responded to a single vehicle collision about a mile west of Pullman on Pullman Albion Road.
A late model Toyota Prius was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when 28 year old, Colleen Earle, lost control of her vehicle. Investigators believe Earle attempted to correct her actions, then crossed over into the opposite lane of travel, causing her to drive off the roadway, rolling the vehicle several times.
Emergency crews from the Albion and Pullman Fire Department responded, attending to Earle, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. She was flown via Life Flight to Spokane for non-life threatening injuries. Dep. Bryce Nebe is currently investigating the accident. Nebe confirmed that Earle is still in the hospital, but is stable.
Tuesday morning, Sept. 27 deputies responded to a single vehicle collision about a mile west of SR 27 on Clear Creek Road near Kamiak Butte, reports say.
The driver of a late model Toyota Rav-4 was traveling westbound at a high speed on Clear Creek Road when he lost control of his vehicle, reports say. As the driver attempted to correct his actions, he crossed over into the opposite lane of travel, driving off the roadway causing the vehicle to roll several times. Investigators believe speed and inattention are factors in this collision.
Emergency crews from the Palouse and Pullman Fire Department responded, attending to the injured driver, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Reports say the driver was transported to Pullman Regional Hospital for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
