Garfield Harvest Festival set for Saturday

Event includes farm equipment, music, food and more

GARFIELD — It’s harvest time on the Palouse. And that means its time for the Garfield Harvest Festival.

The fun takes place from 5-10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8.

Most activities are set for the downtown area between Carlifornia and Third streets.

There will be live music by Aaron Kelly and the Triple B., local food vendors, a classic car show, tractors on display and more.

“It’s been several years since we’ve had it,” Community of Garfield Association spokeswoman Danielle Englehardt said. “This is the first one in at least three years, if not four.”

The event will be the only one put on by the association this year, she said.

“This year will just be fall because we have new leadership,” Englehardt said, noting the new leaders took over a couple months ago.

“We’re very excited,” she said about being able to bring the Garfield Harvest Festival back to life following two years plagued by gubernatorial shutdown mandates and rules. “I think the town is very excited to see it happening.”

The celebration returns as farmers across the region are nearly wrapped up with the harvest, so it’s a good time to celebrate, she said.

At 7 p.m., there will be a children’s movie, hosted by the local branch library.

She did not say what movie is airing.

Concessions will be available by donation to help fund a new mural for the library, as well.

“We also have basketball,” Englehardt said, noting hoops action takes place on California Street.

And don’t forget about the classic vehicles.

“As far as I know, we will have 3-4 old vehicles on display — an old wagon, a sleigh (but not like a Santa sleigh, more like a workhorse machine),” she added, noting that there will also be a private party on Third street in front of the fire hall.

“We have someone who is going to sell cupcakes, pulled pork, jumbo hotdogs, chili dogs, homemade fries and chili cheese fries,” she said, noting that Other vendors are welcome
