Joseph H. Fox

Oct. 9, 1950 - Sept. 28, 2022

Public graveside services for lifelong Oakesdale native, Joseph H. Fox, will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022, at noon at the Oakesdale Cemetery. He would have been 72 on October 9, 2022. Joe passed on September 28, 2022, from complications of an 11-month battle with ALS.

Born on October 9, 1950, Joe was the son of John and Lorene Fox of Oakesdale, and was raised on the family farm in the rural Oakesdale area. Joe attended Oakesdale Schools for his entire 12 years, graduating in the Class of 1969! He attended EWSC & Clover Park Vo-Tech College, in Tacoma, WA.

In 1971, Joe married Truda R. Aune, of Lacrosse, WA. The couple has made Oakesdale their home for their 51 years of marriage. Together they had 2 sons, Travis Joel & Trevor Ryan.

Joe began working for The McGregor Company in 1971 and worked his way thru the service ranks into the management of several different branch entities during his 43 years of service. During that tenure, Joe received many company awards and in the 70's was named "Farwest Fertlizer Serviceman of the Year." Joe retired in 2014. At that point, he took a part time job at The Golf Club at Black Rock in CDA, Idaho, where his son Trevor is the Director of Golf. Joe spent 8 years in his position at Black Rock, as "starter." Joe loved his job and fully enjoyed visiting with all the members thru the years.

Sadly, in 2022, after ALS caused him to lose his speech, he had to retire from this position.

Joe enjoyed all sports and was always in the gym, on the sidelines, at the field, or on the golf course to support both sons. Joe was ultimately

responsible for introducing the golf program into the Oakesdale Schools, when he approached the administration about instituting it into their Spring sports program. Joe and both boys became avid golfers and spent precious hours on hundreds of courses thru the years. Precious times and forever memories!

Aside from golf, Joe enjoyed wood crafting, and following his 2 sons in all their sports & later on the grandsons in their favorite sports of golf & hockey. Whatever they had going on, he tried to attend!

Joe enjoyed serving as a member of the Oakesdale Fire Department for 40 years, serving as chief many years. Joe was a member of the Colfax Golf Club where he served as President of the Board of Directors for several years. Joe & Truda also enjoyed their annual winter trips to the Palm Desert, CA area enjoying more golf and memorable adventures. Joe's easy-going, friendly personality, and respect for others was the foundation of his life. He successfully passed those qualities onto his sons.

Joe is survived by his wife, Truda of 51 years; two sons - Travis (Jenn) & Trevor (Samantha); grandchildren - Tucker James, Tate Joseph, and Sutton Jean; plus "Baby Boy Fox" to arrive March, 2023. Also, sisters - Rolene Peterkin & Jolene Warwick, and brother Tim Fox; plus, several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, family suggestions for memorials are the following: ALS Association- Evergreen Chapter, Team Gleason Foundation, Colfax Golf Course, or Oakesdale Fire Department. These organizations were pertinent in Joe's life.

Golf attire is suggested for the service. Corbeill Funeral Home of Colfax is caring for the family. On-line condolences may be made at http://www.corbeillfuneralhomes.com.
