Council on Aging to receive $200,000 of reallocated funds

Colfax Council on Aging has received reallocated funds from the Community Action Center’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program to put towards food pantries, fuel, and maintenance.

Community Action Center was not going to be able to spend their entire CDBG funding, by the June 2023 deadline, so funds were reallocated to help support Council on Aging.

“Half will go to supporting COAST fuel and maintenance, since prices have skyrocketed,” said Council on Aging and Human Services Executive Director Paige Collins, “and the other half will go towards supporting our senior meals and food pantries,” noting that it will go more towards food pantries.

Council on Aging is thankful for the funds, “with costs going up monumentally, it will help a lot,” Collins said, “It’s a huge boost to our services. Both sides of our agency benefit the entire county.”
