LaCROSSE – Three people were transported to a Colfax hospital on Friday, Sept. 7, following a crash on State Highway 26 about 4 miles west of town.
Kaitlyn R. Harris, 18, of Tacoma, Shaniah Roberts, 18, of Lakewood, and Joyce M. Kubitza, 90, of Blaine, were all taken to Whitman County Memorial Hospital following the 1:26 p.m. crash, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Thomas L. Duman, 67, of Craigmont, Idaho, escaped injury.
According to the patrol, Harris was westbound in a 2016 Toyota
Corolla when she attempted to pass another vehicle and struck two eastbound vehicles – a 2014 Kenworth driven by Duman and a 2006 Chrysler driven by Kubitza.
Roberts was a passenger in Harris’ vehicle, the patrol said.
The occupants of all three vehicles were wearing seatbelts, the patrol reported. And neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be factors.
The Toyota and Chyrsler were destroyed in the crash, the patrol said, noting they were towed from the scene by Colfax Body Repair.
The cause of the crash was an improper lane change, the patrol reported.
