Perkin's House offers after dark tours in October
COLFAX– Perkin's House volunteer Theresa Dale is hosting after-dark tours of the Perkin's House in October, starting at 7 p.m., tours are 25 dollars a night, lasting for about an hour. Attendees have to sign up online, and the door is locked during the tour.
"This is our seventh year," Dale said "I started it the first year I got there, to get people to come to the house." Dale explained that she uses a ghost app on her phone, "it works like a spirit box. You get words. There's a lot of activity near Mr. Perkin's chair," she said, noting that she's never felt anything evil or scary.
Dale was inspired to start the after-dark tours, because so many of the volunteers had experienced unusual happenings or occurrences, "We experienced things like hearing footsteps on the stairwell," she said "we'd hear the piano playing in the music room," adding that all three of Mrs. Perkin's daughters played the piano.
One night at the house late by herself, Dale looked over and thought she saw a lady walking by, "I said oh sorry, were closed, and she just walked from the doorway into what would have been the girl's bedroom," Dale said, explaining that the outline of the woman was a bustle dress with her hair up. "You may or may not experience any of that; it depends on your frame of mind. It really depends on the person that experiences it," Dale said. Dale mentioned that sometimes people bring in their own ghost equipment and that this year St. Ignatius will be bringing in some of theirs to aid the tours.
