Colfax wins Battle of the Bulldogs

COLFAX – Kettle Falls and Colfax competed against each other in the "Battle of the Bulldogs" on Oct. 20.

The Bulldogs (Colfax) took the win over the Bulldogs (Kettle Falls) 3-0, with set scores of 25-8, 25-11 and 25-13.

"We talked about just coming out strong so that the floaters and second-string (players) could play a little more," Colfax coach Megan Dorman said. "And I thought (the starters) did a good job of coming right off the bat, serving tough, so that I could get those other girls a lot of playing time tonight."

The reps for Colfax will become invaluable over the next couple of weeks, and Brenna Gilchrist is out with a chin injury suffered in the Liberty tournament the weekend of Oct. 15 and as districts are approaching.

"We just are continuing to work on setting everyone in practice so that everyone is ready in a game," Dorman said. "You never know. We just lost Brenna during the (Liberty) tournament because of her chin, so you never know what's going to happen and you got to be prepared for whatever."

Stat leaders for Colfax against Kettle Falls were Ava Swan with 9 kills, Lauryn York with 16 kills and 8 aces and Hailey Demler with 8 digs.

The "Battle of the Bulldogs" victory continues a nine-game wins streak for Colfax outside of league competition.

Colfax has yet to drop a game to opponents in regular-season play since losing to Pullman in five sets to begin the season.
