COLFAX — Colfax is hosting it’s traditional Holiday Open house starting Nov. 10. The Open House is an opportunity to shop local, with special sales available.
The Colfax Chamber of Commerce promotes the event with Passport to Colfax. “People can make six purchases at local stores, get a stamp, and be entered into a drawing for 200 dollars,” said Director of the Chamber, Molly Keogh, noting that passports became available Tuesday, Nov. 1 at local retailers participating in the event.
The drawing for the Passport to Colfax winner will be Saturday, Dec. 3, the first day of Colfax Winterfest.
Keogh confirmed that the Downtown Association is sponsoring face painting for Winterfest, and is helping with the parade. The City of Colfax provides fire, police, and sheriff participation in events. “All the city services help set up these events,” Keogh said, “The Baptist Church on Mill Street usually participates,” she added noting that they usually have bonfires, and serve hot cocoa.
Started by Tick Klock, and has become a Colfax tradition were people know that there are sales and special events happening during retailers downtown. Many of my members do run specials, so I promote it.
Keogh stated that the Chamber of Commerce’s main goal is promote local businesses through the events which they help fund through various grants, and the city of Colfax tourism tax. This year the Chamber is trying to raise money for the Winterfest fireworks, “We’re almost halfway there,” said Keogh.
