COLFAX - Northwest Christian traveled from Colbert down to Colfax to take on the Bulldogs in Colfax's last home game of the season.
A classic defensive battle ensued between the teams, with the first quarter ending with a 7-0 lead in favor of Northwest Christian.
The second quarter ended scoreless for both teams, and the Crusaders went into halftime with a 7-0 lead over the Bulldogs.
Colfax's offense and defense didn't have one of its key contributors this week – with 6'7 tight end and defensive lineman JP Wigen missing the game while at FFA Nationals.
The loss in the blocking game was felt by the Bulldogs, who couldn't find the endzone for the rest of the second half and ultimately were shutout by Northwest Christian.
The opposing team put up two more touchdowns in the second half, one in the third and one in the fourth quarter.
Despite the final score, the final yardage between both teams was fairly similar – with both teams completing seven passing attempts, Northwest Christian running 52 total plays to Colfax's 54, the Crusaders averaging 4.5 yards a play to the Bulldogs' 4.2 and Northwest Christian having 179 yards rushing to Colfax's 130.
Mason Gilchrist had 124 of the team's 130 rushing yards on 21 rushes for a 5.9-yard average.
Gilchrist is a two-time all-league running back and could possibly add a third to his list of accomplishments, which include being named SWX's Student Athlete of the Week on Oct. 21.
Colfax stands at 2-7 on the season and 2-5 in league.
Reardan will host Colfax at 6 p.m. on Nov. 4.
