Tekoa hosts talent show for area towns

The inaugural show kicks off Dec. 17 at 6 p.m.

TEKOA — The International Singer Song Writer Association of Washington organized a talent show to take place in Tekoa for county towns Saturday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m., at the Tekoa Empire Theatre, 126 South Crosby Street.

The talent show is sponsored by the Healthy Tekoa Coalition, explained Representative for the Washington International Singer Songwriter Association, Ami Czarnota, noting that it is the first time the event has happened.

“We did have some sign ups, but if people want to sign up at the last minute they can,” said Czarnota, “Anyone who wants to come perform can do so, it’s for all surrounding towns.”

Czarnota and the Healthy Tekoa Coalition wanted to get people together that are musically inclined, or just to share their talents to get festivities happening since all the down time with Covid.

There is not a choir at the local school, Czarnota added, “it’s an event for people to get up on stage and show their talents. We actually have singers, instrument players, Native American dancing, even some people doing some poetry,” she said.

Czarnota encourages all that attend to wear their most festive attire, or ugly Christmas sweaters.

“The Grinch will be there for photo opportunities,” she said, adding that anyone who wants to sign up before the event happens can email her at [email protected].
