19 veterans were honored at the Dusty Cemetery
DUSTY - Dusty Cemetery held its first Wreaths Across America ceremony, December 17, at 11 a.m. The mission of WAA is to Remember the fallen, Honor those that serve and their families, and Teach the next generation the value of freedom. Eight wreaths were placed at the beginning of the ceremony in memory of those who served in each branch of the United States Armed Forces including the US Army, the US Marine Corps., the US Navy, the US Air Force, the US Space Force, the US Coast Guard, and the US Merchant Marines. A final wreath was placed in honor of the 93,129 United States Servicemen from all branches of the service whose last known status was either Prisoner of War or Missing in Action. These individuals have never returned to their families and homes.
Nineteen veterans are laid to rest in the Dusty Cemetery. Each veteran received a moment of honor and recognition as a wreath was placed on his grave by one of the volunteers attending the ceremony.
Quoting a United States President "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream..."
The Wreaths Across America program allows us to show a united front of gratitude and respect across these United States as we REMEMBER the Fallen, HONOR those who serve and their families, and TEACH the next generation the value of freedom.
