REARDAN - The 10th ranked Lake Roosevelt boys' basketball team overwhelmed Garfield-Palouse 66-21 at the Reardan Lions Club Christmas Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 29.
With only eight players on their roster, most of whom were freshmen and sophomores, the Vikings could not compete with Lake Roosevelt's senior-laden squad. Garfield-Palouse's inexperience was clear by their many turnovers that resulted in easy baskets for the Raiders.
At the end of the first quarter, Lake Roosevelt led 23-6, behind Chase Marchand's 10 points. The Raiders extended their lead to 42-11 at halftime. Lake Roosevelt outscored the Vikings 24-10 in the second half.
Marchand led the Raiders in scoring with 16 points. Lane Collier scored 11 points for Garfield Palouse. Landon Orr pulled down seven rebounds for the Vikings.
"Gar-Pal is super young, and they were missing some of their players tonight," Lake Roosevelt head coach Jeremy Crollard said. "I have all my starters back from last year, so had more experience than them."
The Vikings' played Wellpinit in the consolation game on Friday, Dec. 30, and lost 79-36.
Orr led Garfield-Palouse in scoring with 12 points followed by Collier and Bruce Pfaff who each scored 10.
The loss dropped the Vikings' record to 0-8. Their next game will be on Friday, Jan. 6, when they host Colton.
