Colfax Plymouth Church hosts mission trip to Mexico

Four spaces are left for the mission trip to Baja, Mexico

COLFAX—Colfax Plymouth Church pastor Michael Birnbaum has been a veteran Mexico mission administrator for years, and is leading a mission trip to Baja Mexico Feb. 20 through the 26.

Birnbaum stated that though this is an outreach of the members of the Colfax Plymouth Church, others from different churches have also been joining. There are four spaces left.

“It is a great combination of mission service and fun,” said Birnbaum, “Everyone has the option of doing what they are up to doing,” adding that siesta time is also available.

Any Colfax resident can donate, Birnbaum stated, “We need used scrubs, blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes for the hospital, children’s chewable vitamins, and financial donations for supplies and meds.”

Some people want to donate clothes, stated Birnbaum, but they would rather use the space for highly valuable things that the hospital can use.

For those interested Birnbaum stated that they will have an orientation and information session yet to be announced, noting that anyone interested can call for information.

Birnbaum stated that for the trip attendees do not have to have a passport, but should have an Enhanced Driver’s License, certified copy of their birth certificate, and a state issued ID. Attendees are required to have a covid vaccination with their card.

Attendees will stay in Baja, at Via Granada, a retreat center for only humanitarian teams and groups. Service work may include health care work, light construction, working with children in afterschool programs, tutoring English, or preparing and serving food. Both active and retired medical personnel are needed.

There are recreational activities available, which include outdoor activities including local tours, beach time, kayaks, ATV, and more.

To make a reservation contact Pastor Birnbaum at [email protected] or at (509)-710-3283. The Baja program costs $985, plus a non-refundable deposit of $200. Trip cancellation insurance is only available online privately.
