Man arrested for car theft pleads guilty

Whitman County deputies arrested Nicholas J. Bunch, 39 for theft of a motor vehicle, and three counts of vehicle prowl the evening of Jan. 7 Bunch pleaded guilty Friday, Jan. 20 in a superior court hearing.

Bunch admitting that he made a mistake, and wants to get his life straight by going back into construction.

Libey commended him on taking responsibility for his actions, and encouraged him to go forward with his plans to do better.

The Whitman County Prosecutor’s Office dropped the three counts of vehicle prowl in return for Bunch’s guilty plea to felony vehicle theft. Superior Court Judge Gary Libey agreed to the sentencing. Bunch was sentenced to 12 days in jail, and was credited for time served.

The vehicle was reported being located near a business on the north end of Pullman Saturday, Jan. 7, and was returned to the owner, reports say.
