Colfax beats Jenkins, St, George’s to extend win streak to three
COLFAX — The Colfax Bulldogs had back-to-back games on Jan. 20 and Jan. 21, the first being a home game against the Jenkins (Chewelah) Cougars and the second being an away game against the St. George’s Dragons in Spokane.
Colfax walked away the winner in both contests, beating Jenkins 67-51 and St. George’s 60-48.
The Bulldogs opened against Jenkins with a 25-14 opening quarter, but were outscored by the Cougars by three points in the second, and went into halftime with a 36-28 lead.
Colfax proceeded to outscore Jenkins 31-23 in the second half to walk out with the 16-point decision, which was spurred on by nine made 3-pointers by the Bulldogs.
Three of those 3-pointers came from Carson Gray, who paced Colfax with 17 total points. Another three makes came from Adrik Jenkin, who had 13. Seth Lustig and Bradyn Heilsberg each had 11 points and accounted for the remaining three made 3-pointers between the two of them.
Against St. George’s, Colfax fought back from a slow opening quarter in which they trailed 13-7.
After tying the game up at halftime, the Bulldogs took a six-point lead at the end of the third and proceeded to tack on another six points to their lead to close out the game.
Jenkin led the Bulldogs with 18 points, 12 of them coming from beyond the arc (giving him seven made 3-pointers in two games), and Lustig added 16 – 14 of them coming in the second half.
Colfax stands at 14-3 on the season and 10-1 in league competition.
