Willard Frederick Bauscher, Sr. passed away February 17, 2023 of Alzheimer's.
Will was born in Colfax, Washington, November 12, 1935 to Fred H. Bauscher and Phama Ann (Peterson) Bauscher. After graduating from Colfax High School in 1954, Will joined the Air Force.
He trained at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois as an Instrument Mechanic before being stationed close to home at Fairchild Air Force Base then, Moses Lake Washington's Larsen Air Force base. A member of 4170th Strategic Wing, Will served as a member of Strategic Air Command (SAC) during the Bay of Pigs and Cuban Missile Crisis.
In 1958, he married is wife Verna (Dunn) and the two celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in January. After honorably discharging from the Air Force, Will and Verna returned to Colfax, where Will had a long career as owner of Burnett Plumbing and Heating then was able to fulfill his dream of farming the Bauscher "poor farm" before retiring.
Will was a lifelong member of the Pine Grove Grange in Albion where he served as Master, as well as the Elks Lodge #1794 of Colfax where he was proud to serve as Exalted Ruler. He was a member and Deacon at the Plymouth Congregational Church. After retiring, Will and Verna moved to Cashmere, Washington and had a mini-farm where Will continued to care for animals (both domestic and wild).
Spreading their time between their children, they moved to Independence, Oregon in 2014.
Will is survived by his wife Verna (Dunn); children, Lonny (Sally) of Cashmere, Barbara (Vance) Croney of Corvallis, Oregon and Will Jr. (Kim) of Salem, Oregon; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Willamette Vital Health for their care and support.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 11th at 1:00 pm with full military honors at the Colfax Cemetery.
