A graveside memorial service for Evelyn Thaves, age 89, will be on Sunday, March 26, 2023, 1:30 P.M. with Pastor Levi Hatch officiating at Goldenrod Cemetery in Tekoa, Washington. Mrs. Thaves passed away January 29th in St. Maries, Idaho. She was a former longtime resident of Tekoa, WA.
Evelyn was born November 22, 1933, at Plummer, Idaho to Rolland and Georgia (Winchester) Weaver. She attended schools in Plummer, Idaho and Tekoa, Washington. Evelyn married Robert E. Thaves on February 19, 1950 in Tekoa and the couple made their home in Tekoa. Mrs. Thaves worked as a custodian for the Tekoa School District for several years and worked as secretary of the United Church of Tekoa. Mr. Thaves died in 2014. She continued to live in Tekoa until moving to an assisted living in St. Maries in 2019.
Evelyn's hobbies included reading, gardening, camping, canning and baking. She was active in her church, loved her family, and was always willing to help in times of need for anyone that needed help. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Evelyn's music talent was very much part of her life and was requested to sing or play for different events.
Survivors included her children, Diana Schneider, Randy (Marsha) Thaves of Buckeye, Arizona; Robin (Victor) Brede of St. Maries, Idaho; and Brett Thaves (Kate) of Orting, Washington; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings Jackie Thompson, Fred Weaver, Steve Weaver, and Allen Weaver. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Lloyd Needham, Lorn Needham, and Gary Weaver.
