Garfield-Palouse Spring Variety Show this weekend

PALOUSE — Garfield-Palouse Performing Arts Boosters is hosting their Spring Variety Show and Fundraiser Sunday, April 16, at 3 p.m. at the Palouse Community Center.

The event is a chance to support the Arts Boosters in continuing to give out scholarships and provide opportunities for students in the Arts at Garfield-Palouse.

Garfield-Palouse music teacher Matt Zook stated that the Arts Boosters, a parent volunteer group organized the event. The group offers two significant scholarships every year for graduating seniors.

Zook said they’re a great group of ladies, adding that the women are very dedicated.

“Every few years, we try to have a big event,” he said.

Zook stated that the event would feature entertainment from students and community members. In addition, several students will perform, including the young women who participated in the Distinguished Young Women Program, performing their talents and other school ensembles or music groups.

In addition, Palouse musician Paul Smith will perform Irish music.

There will be desserts and silent auction items available.

The desserts are all made by Katie Young of Garfield, who donated the homemade treats, Zook explained.

Zook stated that auction items would go to scholarships, noting that this is just for Garfield-Palouse school.

Several businesses from the area, including Pullman and Moscow, contributed to the auction.

“We’ve got some quilts that will be on donation,” Zook said, adding that the communities are so supportive of the arts.

Zook said the event would go on until around 4:30 to 5 p.m. and is accessible to all ages and open to the public.
