Statement Made By District Clerk Higgins

The school fund muddle spoken of last week has occupied the attention of several citizens and taxpayers of the city and district.

In an interview Clerk Higgins said to the GAZETTE yesterday:

“Outstanding general fund warrants amount to $14,340,11. Since I have been clerk—the beginning of the school year of 1985—the district has paid off $9,013.23 of the face of the warrants, besides the interest on this indebtedness, which has been from 35 to 45 per cent of the principal.
