Close game for Colton and Pomeroy
COLTON –– Colton pulled away late in a 5-3 victory against Pomeroy in their first game in a doubleheader on Monday, April 10.
The game was tied at three, with Colton batting in the top of the fifth when Grant Wolf grounded out, scoring one run.
Pomeroy started with scoring in the first inning. However, Wolf pitched, allowing one run to score for Pomeroy.
Colton scored three runs in the third inning. Wolf, Dan Bell, and Matt Reisenauer led the offense, all driving in runs in the inning.
Wolf lasted seven innings on the mound, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out ten.
Trace Roberts led the mound for Pomeroy and went four innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out ten. Brodie Magill threw three innings.
Colton tallied six hits. Angus Jordan and Bell each collected multiple hits for Colton.
The second game wasn’t in favor of Colton.
Pomeroy took the win and defeated Colton 6-3. The game was tied at three with Pomeroy batting in the bottom of the sixth when Magill singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.
Ollie Severs went 4-for-4 at the plate, boosting Pomeroy’s score. Severs singled in the second, singled in the third, tripled in the fifth, and doubled in the sixth.
Bell retook the mound for Colton. He went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out eleven. Wyatt Jordan threw one inning in relief.
