Old-time farming

COLFAX - The Palouse Empire Threshing Association Spring Farming Days occurred last weekend, April 15 through the 16.

Organizer Mike Schwartz confirmed that they successfully harrowed, fertilized, and fed.

He stated that it's all ready for harvest on Labor Day weekend.

"The weather crop did well," he said, noting that it rained right at the end of Sunday afternoon.

"Other than that, it was good conditions," he added.

Schwartz stated that the turnout seemed very good, and he is thankful to those who watched and participated.

"People from Oregon and Montana were the farthest ones that came down," he said, adding that they came to watch since there are not many horse farming events.

"Our goal is to try and preserve the way it was done and show it to future generations," he said.
