Funding for Palouse to Cascades trail approved

OLYMPIA — The governor’s proposed 2023-25 state capital budget, which included a nearly $2.5 million funding ward for the Palouse to Cascades Trail from Malden to Kenova, passed April 22.

According to the Office of Financial Management, the Kittitas railroad depot has structural problems that require a new foundation and other improvements.

This funding will provide for the renovation of the depot and provides American’s with Disabilities Act-accessible amenities for visitors and provides facilities available for a future vendor lease, according to the budget.
