GARFIELD –– The Garfield-Palouse (Gar-Pal) Vikings baseball team was overwhelmed 16-8 in Saturday’s league outing with the visiting Colton Wildcats.
The doubleheader was a set home game for Gar-Pal as visiting Colton took the field on Saturday, April 29.
Gar-Pal took the lead in the first inning, scoring three runs with Colton just a little behind at two.
Cason Sperber shined for Gar-Pal in the first game after securing a double.
Gar-Pal scattered eight runs throughout the game and tallied nine hits.
Kaleb Kelnhofer, Riley Pfaff, and Colton Pfaff scored RBIs in the game.
Rowan Edwards brought home two RBIs for Gar-Pal Varsity.
The second game was a heated and close game for both teams as Colton secured another victory. Colton took the second game by storm with a 14-12 win.
Colton Varsity got on the board in the third inning after securing three runs. Gar-Pal kicked things off in the fourth by tallying eight runs on the board.
Sperber, Lane Collier, Landon Orr, Macent Rardon, Edwards, R. Pfaff and C. Pfaff all scattered runs to the board throughout the game.
After securing one hit, Bryce Pfaff doubled, and C. Pfaff would later triple.
Colton gained the lead in the fifth after scoring ten runs and an additional run in the sixth.
Gar-Pal put up a good fight in the seventh and scored four more runs.
Gar-Pal Varsity Scattered five hits throughout the heated game.
The Wildcats now hold an 8-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Sunnyside Christian for a 1B Southeast - East outing on Wednesday, May 3.
Colton will confront a Knights team after a 5-3 league win over Touchet. The Knights record now stands at 12-6.
