St. John –– The St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse (SJEL) Varsity Eagles couldnt keep up to the power from Pomeroy in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 29.
The Eagles fell 15-0 in the first game of the day.
Creighton Kauffman in the first inning was a positive for the Eagles.
Trevin Kimble was the winning pitcher for Pomeroy. He allowed one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out ten.
Matthew DeFord was on the mound for SJEL Eagles. DeFord went four and two-thirds innings allowing 15 runs on nine hits, striking out six.
Kauffman threw one-third of an inning out of relief out of the bullpen.
Kauffman went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead SJEL Eagles in hits.
Pomeroy racked up ten hits on the day. Kimble, Slusser, and Peyton Cannon all had multiple hits for Pomeroy.
Pomeroy tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases.
Kimble led the way with two.
Pomeroy didn't commit a single error in the field.
The Eagles watched the game slip away in the second game and couldn't recover in a 15-2 loss.
The SJEL Eagles struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Pomeroy, giving up 15 runs.
Jake Melhus toed the rubber for SJEL Varsity Eagles. He allowed 11 hits and 14 runs over six and a third innings, striking out two.
Brennen Gonzalez, Blake Johnson, and Isaac Kobleski each managed one hit to lead SJEL Eagles.
SJEL Eagles will face Touchet in a home game on Thursday, May 4.
