Rosalia installs new readerboard

ROSALIA - The Rosalia Lions Club and SignCorp, of Spokane have set up a new electronic readerboard for Rosalia.

Lions Club member Dr. Mary Widman said they hope connections for the electrical connections will happen next week.

Widman explained that the Lion's Club came up with the idea to pursue funding for an electronic readerboard in the early 2000s; there wasn't adequate funding to get the project off the ground, so they dismissed the idea.

After the wildfire on September 7, 2020, Widman said the club felt that a local town information bulletin board would have been valuable for delivering emergency alert messages since many residents don't use social media.

Widman explained that with fundraising efforts, they were able to start over.

"The entire process took much longer than expected, but we are happy with the newest technological advances," she said.

Widman explained that the electronic town bulletin board would display local community announcements.

Clubs, school, and church events will be free, but the Lions Club will charge a small fee for business advertising or special event announcements such as birthdays or anniversaries, which she stated will defray the cost of power.

Widman stated that those who wish to add an announcement should see the Rosalia City Hall, and the Lions Club is accepting donations.

"We are excited to add this positive asset to our community," she said.
