Colfax Men finished fifth-best out of 10 teams
COLFAX — The Colfax Men’s team took fifth in the 2B Sub-District Tournament on May 9 in Ritzville, Washington. The girls finished ninth with two points.
St George’s left their mark all over the Men’s division in the tournament. They took first with 106.5 points. Second place was Reardan, who finished with 87.5 points.
Colfax scored 39 points to finish fifth.
On the Women’s side, the Northwest Christian Crusaders scored 65 points to take the victory. The Asotin Panthers took second with 50 points, followed by the Asotin Panthers with 45 points.
St George’s took first, second, and third in the men’s 100 meter dash. Joaquin Kiltz won with a time of 12.38. Kiltz also won the 200 meter dash after running a time of 25.56. ST George’s also took third, fourth, and fifth in the event. It took a PR from Davenport’s David Coriell to stop St George’s from their second podium sweep.
The first points for the Bulldogs came in the 400 meter event, where James Heiner finished fourth after a time of 58.93.
Colfax finished third in the 4 X 100 meter event. They posted a time of 47.11 First place was won by Davenport with a time of 46.40.
Riley Williams shot himself into points after a PR in the shot put landed him fourth in sub-districts. His throw was 33-09.75.
The best finish from the Bulldogs on the day was in the discus. Senior thrower Alex Binks took second in the event as he threw 91-04.
On the women’s side, the Crusaders were dominant throughout, taking second and third in the 100 meter dash. They also won the 4 X 100 meter event.
The two points scored by Colfax were thanks to Paige Horton, the only Colfax representative on the women’s side. She placed seventh in the 100 meter dash with a time of 15.39.
Next up for the qualifying runners and throwers in each event will be at the districts track meet, with berths to state on the line. The regional championship meet will take place Friday the 19th and Saturday the 20th in Colfax.
