COLFAX — With state softball looming over the weekend, the WIAA has released their All-League honors, including MVP of the league, coach of the year, as well as first and second team recognition.
The MVP was none other than Delaney Imler, senior pitcher/first base for the Colfax Bulldogs. She was stellar all season long, pitching over half of the games the Bulldogs have played this season, and was excellent hitting the bat in 2023. She finished the season with a .509 batting average with 27 hits for 35 RBIs and a home run.
Coach of the year was awarded to Denise Smith of Chewelah. She led the Cougars to a 10-10 season where last year the team went 8-12.
For first team All-League, Colfax was represented by Harper Booth, a senior catcher/shortstop.
Among the nine first-team honorees this season, six were seniors and the other three were all freshmen. Kaitlyn Waters of Northwest Christian, Hannah Towne of Lind-Ritzville Sprague, and Jordyn Jeske of Liberty were the three freshmen acknowledged as first-team recipients this season.
On second team, the Bulldogs had two representatives. They were Senior pitcher/second base Karmen Akesson, and Junior Harley Hennigar. The second-team All-League had five seniors, three juniors, and two sophomores.
This closes the end to the district season for Colfax and the other teams in District 7. Starting Friday, May 26 is the 2B State Softball Tournament, which will take place in Yakima, Washington at the Gateway Sports Complex.
