Webb Slough's new brew

ST JOHN — For the beer fans of locally made brews, Webb Slough delivers just what every drinker can want.

Webb Slough partnered again with Paradise Creek Brewery this year to introduce a new Slough Brew.

2023’s new Slough Brew has been announced as the Slough Brew Pale Ale.

“This year, we went with a hazy pale ale instead of a lager,” said the head brewer of Paradise Creek’s Trailside Taproom, Patrick Hinknen.

The malt is a mix of pale malt as well as wheat, black barley, and ingredients from LINC of Spokane.

“It’s made using ingredients almost entirely in the state of Washington,” said Hinknen.

Slough Brew Pale Ale is 4.8% Alcohol by Volume (APV) and measures 25% International Bitter Units (IDU).

The hops used in the recipe come from the Cascades and Citra for the dry hopping.

“I really like it. It’s definitely a beer that I think a lot more people are going to be drinking. It’s lighter in flavor than what normal pale ale would be. It has good citrus notes aromatics since we used citrus hops,” added Hinknen.

Hinknen also reports that the brew is not incredibly malty or bitter to the taste.

Those interested in tasting the new brew can visit Paradise Creek Brewery in Pullman or St. John’s Empire Foods and Rialto Tavern.
