Pullman Boys soccer finishes fourth in state

Lose semifinal game, then lose third place game to finish fourth

PULLMAN— The Pullman Greyhounds ended their stellar season last weekend as they finished fourth overall in the WIAA 2B State Championships, which took place at Renton Memorial Stadium in Renton, Washington.

The Greyhounds started the tournament as the No. 6 overall seed. Their first game was a 4-0 victory against White River to move the Greyhounds into the Quarterfinal match up.

The quarterfinal game saw the Greyhounds upset No. 3 overall Franklin Pierce 3-0. This moved the Greyhounds into the semifinal game, while still not allowing a goal all state tournament.

In the semifinal game the Greyhounds ran into the No. 2 overall team North Kitsap, who dominated the Greyhounds, beating them 2-0 to destroy the hopes of Pullman winning state. North Kitsap would go on to lose the state championship game to Columbia River, who came into the tournament as the No. 1 overall seed.

After the semifinal loss, the Greyhounds moved to the third/fourth place game where they matched up with Sehome. Sehome came into the tournament as the No. 4 overall seed. This was the best game the Greyhounds had been in during the tournament, with there being seven combined goals in the game.

Pullman would lose the game 4-3, and walk away from the tournament as the fourth best team in the state for 2A boys soccer.
