PULMAN — The Pullman Greyhounds girls have won state for tennis in the WIAA 2A state tournament.
This is the first time that the Greyhounds have won a team state championship for tennis, and was the second consecutive year that the Greyhounds had people medal in all four events, boys and girls singles and doubles.
The boys side also put on a show, taking third overall in state.
For the girls, Rhoda Wang won her second straight state championship after winning her championship match in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Her single state championship win also helped the Greyhound girls secure the team state championship.
“Every one of our girls medaled to help take the state plate,” head coach Dan Vollmer said.
Gwyn Heim would finish fifth overall in state, and the duo of Lotti Wolf and Kei Bromley finished fifth as well.
The boys side saw Vijay Lin finish third as he won his match to earn his third place award in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0. Lin lost his first match up to Zach Chai, who ended up winning the state tournament.
The Pullman boys also had a fifth-place finish from the boys duo of Kolby Uhlenkott and Kieran Hampson.
