Palouse Summer Series Baseball kicking off

PALOUSE — The Palouse Summer Baseball series is up and running.

The event sees baseball travel teams in eight different divisions, the youngest being 10U, and the oldest being 19U, will compete in a tournament with games taking place at either Bailey-Brayton field in Pullman, Washington, McDonald Park in Colfax, and Quann field, where the Pullman High School Greyhounds play baseball.

The first age division to start the tournament off is the 13U teams, who took place in games June 2-4 at Washington State University, and McDonald park.

The next age group to take the field will be the 15U boys, who start their tournament June 15-18 at WSU, Colfax, and Pullman high school.

The oldest age group that will have a tournament in the area is the 19U boys team, their tournament will be June 22-25 and there will be games taking place at Colfax, WSU, Pullman high school, and Lewis-Clark State College.

For specific rules for the tournament, the games will not last longer than two hours and 10 minutes. There is also an eight run rule after five innings, 12 runs after four, and 20 after three. This will take place in all games except for the championship games.

Courtesy runners will be allowed in the tournament, and there will be no re-entry for a player that is removed from the lineup.

In the “pool play” rounds and seedings, if there are any ties when making the seeds for playoffs, the tie-breakers are as follows:

First is the head-to-head score, then they look at least runs allowed, if they’re still tied, they look at most runs scored, and finally if still tied they will go to a coin flip.
