Chase ends after after one motorcycle crashes

COLFAX — Two Lewiston-Clarkston Valley men charged with the felony charge of eluding police in Whitman County pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in court on Friday, July 21.

Mathew Florek and Seth Brown pleaded guilty to misdemeanor reckless driving in Whitman County District Court. The men were found guilty following a motorcycle chase that ended in a crash.

Florek and Brown were sentenced to six days in jail, placed on probation for a year, ordered to perform 40 hours of community service, and fined $350.

Whitman County District Court Commissioner Doug Robinson handed down the sentence. Florek and Brown have no prior criminal history.

The pursuit occurred in early June, south of Pullman on U.S. Highway 195.

Reports say the men rode motorcycles at approximately 90 mph when they failed to stop for a Washington State Patrol Trooper.

The chase ended when Brown crashed off the highway and Florek stopped to help the trooper find Brown in a field.

Brown was injured in the crash.
