Serving Whitman County since 1877
Oct. 5, 1952 - July 6, 2023
Nola Marie Schweiger left us on July 6, 2023. Nola was a person of faith and lived a life as God inspired us to live it. Her generosity, compassion and kindness towards others fulfilled her.
Born in Colfax, Wash., on October 5, 1952, she was the first child of Herb and Elaine Schweiger. She grew up in Lacrosse, Wash., and graduated high school from Holy Names Academy in Spokane. She went on to graduate from Seattle University. She began her career with Nordstrom then followed her passion for aerospace. After joining Boeing to work on the pre-release program for the 757, Nola joined Northup Grumman supporting the B-2 program until its entry into service. She loved exploring new cities and when opportunity arose, she moved to Huntsville, Ala., then Alexandria, Vir., supporting Boeing Defense, before returning to Seattle to finish her Boeing career.
Following her father's passion for gardening, Nola too was an avid gardener, a nurturer at heart, she found joy with her hands in the dirt, head in the sun, and heart with nature. Nola resided part time in Palm Springs where she was an accomplished tennis player and a member of the Mission Hills Tennis Club. Many winter vacations were spent in Sun Valley where cross-country skiing was her passion. Skiing in Banff was dear to Nola as her mother was born and raised in Calgary. Nola had great entrepreneurial skills and was a member of PONCHO, The Patrons of Northwest Civic, Cultural and Charitable Organizations a non-profit corporation in Seattle.
Nola was preceded in death by her mother Elaine Schweiger and father Herbert Schweiger, and beloved friend Tom Snead. Nola is survived by her sisters Connie (Tad) Williams and Faye Broeckel, and a brother Joseph Schweiger. Nola would most appreciate remembrances through prayers. Because of her passion for dogs, donations can be made to Seattle Humane Society https://www.seattlehumane.org/
Following a private funeral mass Nola was laid to rest next to her parents at the Lacrosse Cemetery. Corbeill Funeral Home in Colfax, WA, is caring for the family. Online condolences may be made at http://www.corbeillfuneralhomes.com.
